Kandooras yesterday, abayas today. Emirati women wear these black garments over their clothes when in public. Many of them, like these, are decorated with beads, patterns, and embroidery.

Last year I was in Oman, and while taking photos of some abayas on sale I overheard a conversations between young Omani men, "Why is she taking photos of an abaya?" I guess what's interesting to one is mundane to another. I wish I had taken more photos of the really "common" stuff during my first stint in the UAE...it's a real window to life.
I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would
