This is a statue of Sheikh Zayed, the first president of the UAE. The text to the left of the palm tree is "الخير", "the good" in Arabic.

That's really unique looking. What does the palm symbolize in regard to this person?
Al Ain is built around an oasis with thousands of date palms. So dates and date palms are very symbolic of the region and its hospitality.
